Recently, I learned that Illusion, a Japanese game production company, launched a new video game called Rapelay. It’s a game in which you need to sexually assault females, or in simpler terms: rape girls. Yes, do it again and again, until you win.
Even since before I was born, there was already controversy with video games.
1970’s
Back then, a video game company named Exidy released a game called Death Race. ‘Death Race’ was a harmless driving game in which players would use a big steering wheel to guide little blobs of light around the screen. Players drove their cars around the screen trying to run down little stick figures, which turned into tombstone-like crosses after being hit.
The Death Race game quickly triggered national attention in the US, garnering write-ups in every major newspapers. It even prompted a segment on TV’s 60 Minutes probing the psychology of video game players. They ultimately took the game off the market. Semuanya semata-mata sebab tunjuk orang lidi jadi batu nesan je hahaha. Dahla dulu grafik buruk, tak real.
1970’s to 2000.
Since then, controversy always surround the game industry every time there is a new element involved (such as profanity, fightings, theft, weapons, blood, drug use, gambling, nudity). Banyak sangat kontroversi, malas nak cerita satu satu hehe. Termasuklah game2 popular like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc. But by 2000, all of these so-called controversial elements have somehow become acceptable. Dulu kecoh, sekarang dah biasa. Sekarang most games pun ada tembak-tembak dan senjata. Even the ones at kids arcades like in Jusco pun ada.
After 2000.
So bila dah acceptable, why not push the limit again?
In 2004, there was ‘JFK Reloaded’ , a game that let you re-enact the Kennedy assassination. The creepy part is that the game accurately portrayed the faces of president John F Kennedy, his wife Jacqueline Kennedy and the rest of the passengers in the president limo. You then need to kill the president using 3 bullets ala Lee Harvey Oswald. One of 4 passengers depicted in the game, Nellie Connally, was actually still alive when the game was produced.
More recently, there was the Hot Coffee controversy, in which the award winning game ‘Grand Theft Auto (GTA): San Adreas’ had built-in sex minigame. Fyi, the plot of the game is actually to help the character climb up the mafia organization by doing thefts and assassinations - it had nothing to do with sex, and it initially had a rating of M - safe enough for a 14 year old. But as later discovered, just by modifying a single bit of the GTA game data file, you can access the not-so-hidden minigame. This minigame allows the player to actually enter the girlfriend’s bedroom and control his actions during sex, with 6 possible scenes.
Anyway, although there are actually thousands of sex games available in the market (most of which are from Japan), GTA was unique because: 1. it was the best-selling video game ever (20 million copies sold so far) 2. it won numerous awards (game of the year, best PS2 game, bla bla). I myself even thought GTA was awesome.
Now.
And now, there’s ‘Rapelay’. In this rape simulator game, there’s so much nasty things you can do, including rape a girl together with up to five computer-controlled “friends”. I can’t imagine how the staffs in the game production company can work days and nights to come up with such a game. Picture this: a group of developers sitting together discussing on which rape victims look hotter, which sexual positions to offer, or how to animate groping. It’s just plain weird.
At Aidan, we have our own IT company AidanTech, but we develop software, not games. With all the new trends, we don’t think we can even keep up with them. Fight. Shoot. Kill. Torture. Rape. What’s next?

12 Mar 09 at 6:51 pm #I suppose its inevitable really. Porn producers keep feeling the need to push the boundaries because their customers get desensitised and it takes more extreme stuff to get them off.
To be honest the idea of a sex game never really occurred to me. But I’m not surprised that this is where its let to.

Aku tak terkejut tengok bende nie, bende nie dah jadi biasa pada zaman sekarang nie. Kenapa? kalau kita baca surat khabar je macam2 kes yg lagi teruk dari ini keluar..
jadi bende nie bertindak sebagai pemangkin yang akan merosakkan lagi minda budak2 zaman sekarang. So nak salahkan sapa? selalu kita kata. Budak2 sekarang teruk perangai dan tak tau pikir.
Time zaman kita budak2 dulu, kita tak didedahkan dengan bende2 camni, jadi jangan nak belagaklah yg dulu kita tak buat itu dan ini, yg kita nie budak baik. Stop the nonsense. Zaman sekarang dah totally different dengan zaman kita dulu.
Sekarang nie zaman yg amat mencabar, selalu kita kata tindakan perlu diambil. Semua nak blame pihak lain. Suruh sekat itu dan ini. Amat kurang yg nak amik tindakan sendiri.
Kita selalu lepas tangan atas tangungjawab yg diberikan. Kenapa? bila kita dah besar, kita ego, kita taknak mengaku kesalahan sendiri. Kita akan mula mencari orang lain untuk dipersalahkan.
Diorang yg buat game nie nak untung je, permintaan tinggi so berganda2 lah untungnye. Sekat lah macam mana pon, selagi ada permintaan pasti diorang akan dapat bende2 nie.
Selalu produk2 camni ditujukan pada belia remaja atau budak2 sekolah. Diorang nie sume tahu yg mana baik dan yg mana buruk. Cuma tak praktikkanye saje. Diorang masih belum boleh fikir secara rasional lagi. Tahap pemikiran diorang bukan macam kita.
Jadi sapa yang main peranan kat sini untuk stop bende2 camni? rase korang dah pon dapat jawapan.

sama jugak dgn servis2 macam vcd lucah, pusat ‘urut’, khidmat along, dan lain2.. semua businesses ni continue offer services tu sebab ada RAMAI ORANG yang willing to pay for those services..
