Last week I was in Guangzhou for a so call business trip. The trip was successful as we spend almost RM 10,000 for our new product development materials and equipments.

Guangzhou has almost 12 million in population. The manufacturing industry contribute 80% of the GDP. In 2007, the GDP reached ¥705 billion (US $92 billion), per capita was ¥71,219 (US $9,302), ranking 6th among the other 659 Chinese cities.

The underground metro system extend to 116 km. By 2020 the system will be expand up to 500 km making it the longest underground network in China. Currently there are 4 lines serving the people of Guangzhou.

Although the population of Guangzhou is about 12 million people, it seems that the authority of Guangzhou have overcome the most terrific problem face by metropolitan ie the traffic jam. The solution is to forbid motorcycle from entering the city center. Only tricycle drove by handicap people is allow to move inside the busy city of Guangzhou.

Guangzhou is well known as the heaven of small timer traders from all over the world. The wholesale market sell almost everything ranging from the household to personal beauty and accessories. You can easily spot Africans and Arabs everywhere in Guangzhou. They have even established a very strong community to assist the newbie coming from the region to do business by providing reliable shipping service, translator and warehouse for the traders to store their goods.
